Martinlaakso Vision 2030 - From Suburb to Neighbourhood is a Master’s thesis in urban planning that examines the relationship between Vantaa’s Martinlaakso and future urban infill development in the central area of Martinlaakso through planning.
This work focuses an alternative solutions to demolishing existing buildings and constructing on natural areas in the central area of Martinlaakso in Vantaa. The aims were to find a suitable extent of urban infill construction in the area while preserving its current values and creating an attractive and multi-layered urban environment. The work explores how the neighbourhood can fill inward while maintaining the layered built environment and diversity of green areas.
The planning solutions presented in this work for the planning area aim to adhere to Vantaa city’s guidelines for an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable urban center.
